Product Details

Permanent, high-contrast identification for valves, pipework and plant rooms - laser-engraved into 1.6mm two-ply laminate that resists moisture, oils and cleaning chemicals.

Our lasers cut through the top ply to expose a contrasting core, so the text is physically engraved into the tag rather than printed on top. It will not wipe off during maintenance or fade in a warm plant room. Tags are cut from the same material as our engraved laminate labels, so matching panel and pipe labels can be produced alongside them.

Why specify engraved tags

Permanent engraved text

Because the legend is cut through the surface layer, condensation, solvents and regular handling won't rub it off.

Colour-coded by service

Use different two-ply colours for heating, chilled water, gas and mains water so services are easy to identify at a glance.

Numbered runs and schedules

Give us a start number or upload a spreadsheet and we sequence the set directly from your valve schedule.

Seven standard diameters

From 25mm tags for compact manifolds up to 100mm discs for risers and main isolation valves.

Choosing a diameter

Tag size Diameters Typical use
Small 25 – 30 mm Dense manifolds and grouped valves where space is tight
Medium 40 – 60 mm General valve, pipe and HVAC identification
Large 80 – 100 mm Risers and main isolation valves that must be found quickly

How your text reaches us

  • Custom text - type the wording for each tag, line by line, straight into the configurator.
  • Sequential numbering - give a start number and we number the whole run in order.
  • CSV or spreadsheet - upload your valve schedule as a CSV, XLS, XLSX, ODS or TXT file and we engrave each tag to match.

Where these tags are used

  • Valve identification
  • Plant room schedules
  • HVAC commissioning
  • Heating and chilled water
  • Gas and mains marking
  • Process pipework
  • Sprinkler and fire systems
  • Planned maintenance
  • Facilities management
  • Asset and inspection tagging

Widely specified on construction and facilities contracts. See also our engraved labels and Traffolyte labels for matching panel and pipe legends.

Working from a valve schedule? Upload your valve list as a CSV or spreadsheet and we will set out every tag from it, send a proof for approval, and engrave the set. See the artwork guide if you prefer to supply your own layout.

Frequently asked questions

What size valve tags should I order?
Seven diameters from 25mm to 100mm. Match the tag to how far away it has to be read and how much room there is: small tags suit a dense manifold where space is tight, larger ones suit a riser or a main isolation valve that needs identifying from across the plant room.
Can you engrave a numbered run automatically?
Yes. Enter a start number and we sequence the whole set for you, so a run of 200 tags needs one instruction rather than 200. You can also upload a CSV or spreadsheet of your valve schedule and we engrave each tag to match it - quicker and far more reliable than transcribing a long list by hand.
How do the tags fix to the pipework?
Order tags on their own or supplied with ball chain ready to fit. Chain is the usual choice for valves and spindles where nothing can be drilled or stuck; holes and self-adhesive backing are also available if you need them.
Will the engraving survive a plant room?
Yes. The lettering is cut through the top ply to expose the contrasting core, so there is no ink or print to wipe off. The laminate resists moisture, condensation, oils, cleaning chemicals and abrasion, which is why it stays legible for years where a printed label would not.
Can I colour-code tags by service?
That is one of the main reasons to specify them. Choose from the full two-ply colour range, including safety red and yellow plus brushed silver and gold, so heating, chilled water, gas and mains are distinguishable at a glance without reading a single tag.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum - order a single replacement tag if that is all you need. Volume discounts apply for larger plant-room schedules - the configurator shows the saving as you change quantity.
